Hey there! Welcome back to another episode of the podcast. I’m so happy that you’re here. In today’s episode, we’re diving into all the different ways to make money from home as a mom without going the MLM route.

Virtual Assistance // The first option I wanted to mention today is virtual assistance. This is actually where I truly got my start in the online space and think it’s a great way to get into the industry. You can offer nearly any service as a virtual assistant from general admin work to bookkeeping and more.

If you listened to episode 2 I shared my story of starting as a virtual assistant + SMM so it is something I feel really passionate about because it helped me build my business to where it is now even though I am more specialized and working as a podcast strategist now.

Freelancing // You don’t have to start offering virtual assistance to become a service provider in the online space. You can freelance and offer things such as social media management, graphic or web design, copywriting, and so much more. These are going to be more specialized and need a lot less handholding from the client. You will essentially be able to take the reins after hearing the client’s vision and getting some samples of previous work they’ve done and/or other people’s work that they jive with whereas with virtual assistance the client is telling you what they need.

Influencer // Before I started offering virtual assistance back in 2016, I had a lifestyle blog that I started in 2014. It was more of a creative outlet at the time as I was working a paid internship in marketing as well as working part time at Vera Bradley but I did end up making money off it over time and got to partner with some really cool brands over the years.

Once I had my son in 2020, I took a step back from blogging/influencing and put all of my focus on my podcast management business because I knew it would be nearly impossible to keep up with both businesses and an infant but I do think it’s a great way to make some extra money at home.

I will say that you do need to be really consistent with putting out new content for this to be lucrative. Unless you hit it big and have multiple videos go viral, it’s not going to be something that is an overnight success. In fact, none of these options are but I feel like the influencer space is definitely oversaturated so you’re going to have to be unique to make a career out of it.

Coach or consultant // You could become a health/wellness coach if you’re super into fitness. If you worked as a marketing consultant at your day job, you could transition it to the online space. The opportunities here are pretty much endless. I will say I personally think it is easier to start as a service provider before transitioning into coaching because you don’t really need much of an audience to offer services but you will need a significantly larger pool of people if you’re planning on coaching so that is just something to keep in mind.

Course creator // Being a course creator is another great option but not always one I recommend starting with unless you already have a proven method that you can sell to people. To sell courses, you’re going to need somewhat of an audience first so I feel like it’s much easier to offer services and then create digital products or courses

E-commerce // You can open an Etsy shop or Shopify store and start selling either physical or digital products. You can either sell products that you have created or purchase digital products that you have private label rights (PLR) to sell which essentially means allowing someone to alter existing content- such as articles or videos- and market it as their own.

Reselling online // As someone who is an avid purchaser from small bamboo shops for my kiddos, I have seen many people be successful with reselling online whether that’s gently used clothes or buying top items during coveted drops and then selling for a bit of a profit.

So I’d love to know which of these are you currently doing? If you’re brand new to the online space, let me know which option sounds like it would be the best fit for you? Let me know over on Instagram at momsmakemoneycollective. I love chatting with you all.
