In 2022, my business was thriving. It was my highest revenue year, my most aligned clients, and the most visible I had ever been. I felt like I had finally figured it all out—like I had hit my stride after years of building and learning.

But then… 2023 hit like a tidal wave.

Projects dried up. My energy plummeted during a difficult pregnancy. The chaos of motherhood and entrepreneurship collided, and for the first time, I found myself questioning everything. Not just my offers or pricing but me. Was I still good at what I did? Could I keep going? Was I even cut out for this anymore?

What started as a rough month turned into a full-blown identity spiral. And for a moment, I truly thought I might quit entirely.

But here’s what I want you to know: that breaking point didn’t end my story—it started my burnout recovery journey.

What Burnout Recovery Really Looks Like (Spoiler: It’s Not Overnight)

I used to believe that once things improved on the outside—clients returned, energy came back—then I’d start feeling confident again. But that’s not how burnout recovery works.

The truth is, confidence doesn’t return because your circumstances change. It comes back when you change—how you think, how you show up, how you care for yourself. You have to rebuild it on purpose.

Here’s what that looked like for me.

1. I Reconnected With My Results

When doubt took over, I went back to my own proof—client testimonials, student wins, kind messages in my inbox. During burnout, it’s easy to forget the impact you’ve already made. Revisiting those results helped me remember that my work matters.

If you’re starting your own burnout recovery, start here. Remind yourself of who you’ve already helped and how far you’ve already come.

2. I Simplified Everything

Burnout often stems from overcomplication—too many offers, too many tasks, too many expectations. So I stripped everything back. I reviewed my services, my schedule, my systems. If it didn’t support my family and my future, it was cut.

Simplicity became my burnout recovery superpower. It gave me breathing room—and that space created clarity.

3. I Showed Up Imperfectly Anyway

One of the biggest symptoms of burnout is hiding. You second-guess yourself. You stop showing up. But the antidote isn’t waiting until you feel 100% ready—it’s choosing to show up anyway.

I restarted my podcast. I sent the awkward pitches. I leaned into visibility again, even if my confidence wasn’t fully there yet. That messy action? It was key to my burnout recovery process.

4. I Built a Support System

Burnout thrives in isolation. So I stopped trying to do it alone.

I reached out to fellow moms in business, rejoined masterminds, and started having honest conversations. Surrounding myself with people who “get it” made all the difference.

Burnout recovery is never meant to be a solo journey—and you don’t have to carry it all on your own.

5. I Redefined Success (On My Terms)

One of the most healing parts of my burnout recovery was letting go of everyone else’s definition of success.

Instead of chasing big, shiny goals, I asked: What does success look like for me right now?

In this season, it meant:

  • Being present with my kids

  • Doing work that actually lights me up

  • Making enough money to support my family without sacrificing my mental health

Once I embraced that, everything started falling into place.

Burnout Recovery Is Messy But It’s Also Transformational

If you’re in a hard season right now, I want you to hear this:

You’re not broken. You’re becoming.

Burnout doesn’t mean the end—it’s often the beginning of something more aligned, more sustainable, and more powerful. True burnout recovery isn’t about bouncing back to who you were—it’s about becoming who you’re meant to be.

Some of the most meaningful growth happens underground—in the quiet, messy, in-between moments when no one’s watching. So even if it feels like no one sees your progress right now, trust that you’re still moving forward.

Your impact isn’t canceled. Your vision still matters. And your business, even if it’s being built in the margins of motherhood, is still valid.
