If you’ve ever looked at your overflowing to-do list and thought, “How am I supposed to run a business AND raise a family?”—you’re not alone.
As a mom of two and CEO of Podcasting for Moms and Moms Make Money Collective, I know firsthand how hard it can be to juggle daycare drop-offs, dinner duty, and client deadlines without burning out. That’s why I’ve intentionally built my business around one key principle: a 20 hour workweek.
And no, I’m not talking about cramming 40 hours of hustle into half the time. I’m talking about simplifying, streamlining, and staying laser-focused on what actually moves the needle—so I can grow my business and still be present for my family.
In this episode, I’m pulling back the curtain to show you what my 20 hour workweek really looks like, including the systems I rely on, the tasks I prioritize, and the boundaries that make it all sustainable.
Why I Chose a 20 Hour Workweek
Let’s start with the why.
I didn’t start my business to work around the clock. I started it for freedom. Freedom to be there for my kids. Freedom to create an income on my own terms. Freedom to follow my passions without sacrificing my sanity.
But somewhere along the way, I found myself falling into the full-time hustle trap—trying to squeeze a 40+ hour workload into part-time hours and constantly feeling behind. That’s when I knew something had to change.
So I took a hard look at my offers, systems, and schedule and made a conscious decision to trim the fluff and focus only on what mattered. The result? A sustainable, streamlined business model that fits beautifully into a 20 hour workweek.
My Weekly Schedule Breakdown
Here’s how I typically structure my week:
-
Monday – CEO + Strategy Day (4 hours): I use Mondays to set the tone for the week—reviewing metrics, mapping out goals, planning content, and recording podcast episodes.
-
Tuesday + Wednesday – Client Days (8 hours total): These are the only two days I schedule client calls, coaching sessions, and delivery work for my podcast management and launch clients.
-
Thursday – Content + Creation Day (5 hours): This is my flow day. I write emails, work on digital products or templates, outline podcast episodes, and batch any creative projects.
-
Friday – Admin + Overflow (3 hours): Fridays are my lightest day—perfect for catching up on emails, reviewing systems, and closing loops before the weekend.
Some weeks, if I’m ahead or need a break, I take Friday off completely. Because sustainability > hustle every time.
What I Do (and Don’t) Prioritize
To make a 20 hour workweek actually work, I’ve had to get super intentional about what tasks fill my schedule.
Here’s what I focus on:
-
Revenue-Generating Activities – Think nurturing leads, pitching, launching, and delivering services.
-
Client Delivery – Supporting podcast clients and coaching students.
-
Marketing That Converts – My podcast, email list, bundles, summits, and collabs (aka low-lift, high-impact strategies).
-
Systems + Automation – Setting up tools and workflows that save time in the long run.
-
Content Creation – Emails, episodes, digital products, and the occasional social content.
And here’s what I don’t do anymore:
-
Constantly scrolling or posting on Instagram
-
Saying yes to every opportunity
-
Doing everything manually
-
Trying to be everywhere and do everything
Letting go of these helped me reclaim my time—and my peace.
My Top 3 Time-Saving Tools
You don’t get to a 20 hour workweek without some serious behind-the-scenes support. These are my ride-or-die tools:
-
ClickUp – Keeps me organized and on top of client work, launches, and content.
-
Loom + Descript – Great for sending client updates and creating/editing podcast content with ease.
-
Zapier – Automates repetitive tasks so all my tools work together (without me in the middle).
These tools help me streamline my systems and stay in my zone of genius.
The Secret to Making It Work Long-Term
If you’re dreaming of a 20 hour workweek, here’s the truth: it takes boundaries, focus, and a lot of no’s.
I say no to clients who aren’t a good fit. I say no to shiny objects that derail my strategy. And I’ve built offers that support my lifestyle, not the other way around.
Here’s what I want you to ask yourself:
-
What tasks truly move the needle in my business?
-
What can I simplify or automate?
-
Where am I leaking time or energy?
Because you didn’t start your business to work 24/7. You started it for freedom, flexibility, and space. And a 20 hour workweek can give you all of that—if you build with intention.
