Not sure if you’ve noticed or not, but I have been a bit MIA the last couple of months…and that’s because it’s been a bit of a whirlwind the past 6 or so weeks.

First, I went from 20 hours of childcare a week to 0 overnight and that was definitely rough, especially the first two weeks because my daughter’s naps hadn’t quite consolidated yet.

She finally figured it out about a week and a half later and I started getting a lot more consistent sleep from her during the day which made it possible for me to work a little bit more during the day and not have to rely only on working at night after the kiddos go to bed so that really helped me have more time to not only focus on the nonnegotiable weekly items.

Then, 3 weeks ago around 6 pm a tornado touched down about 1 mile or so away from our house. We live in Texas, specifically the Houston area, so tornadoes aren’t really a thing here and we are not equipped to handle them.

The tornado hit a few houses within our neighborhood and also mangled a bunch of power lines along the way so we lost power almost immediately. We weren’t sure how long it would take to come back on so we stayed at home overnight but Friday rolled around and we still didn’t have our power restored so I packed up the kiddos and my dogs and headed to my parents house.

We got power back on Saturday morning and then lost it for a little bit Sunday evening and had spotty Internet until Wednesday. Then it was Memorial Day weekend so we headed out on our first trip as a family of four to visit some family in Kansas. Then I spent last week doing post vacation laundry (if you know you know) and preparing Emery to start daycare on June 3rd.

Even with all of that craziness, the business has still been running. We’ve been serving our current and existing clients. I’ve been working behind the scenes on some upcoming projects that I can’t wait to share with you and I’ve also rediscovered my love for reading and have read 10 books since April because I know prioritizing myself is still important even when I have limited work time.

As I’m recording this, it’s June 3rd and Emery is supposed to be starting daycare today but she got sick on Thursday and it’s still running its course so I am hoping we can get her back at school by Wednesday at the latest.

I am definitely going to miss having her here but I am excited to have more time to focus on my business and I have lots of plans for the summer months and throughout the rest of 2024 which I will be sharing with you soon.

Most people tend to wind down for summer, but this summer I am ramping up because it’s my last summer with my son in daycare instead of elementary school so summers going forward will look much different than they do now so I am taking full advantage of that.

So if you listened to all of that, thank you so much for sticking with me. I really appreciate it.

I won’t be taking a pause for the summer since I haven’t been really consistent the past couple months so plan to tune in weekly for new episodes from me and our guests.

I’d love to hear about how you’re doing. Are you slowing down for the summer or ramping up? Let me know over on Instagram. I’d love to hear from you.
