Let’s be real—social media can feel like a full-time job, especially when you’re also juggling kids, client work, and everything in between. If you’re a mom building a business in part-time hours, chances are you’ve felt stuck on the content creation hamster wheel, wondering if all that posting, scrolling, and engaging is even worth it.
Here’s the good news: you don’t have to spend hours a day on social media to grow your business. In fact, you can have a simplified strategy that gets results—in just two hours a week.
Yes, seriously.
In this episode, I’m walking you through exactly how to create a social media strategy that works for your life and your business—with zero burnout, zero doom-scrolling, and 100% intentionality.
The Problem with How Most Moms Use Social Media
Let’s start with what’s not working.
So many moms in business feel like they need to:
-
Post every single day (on multiple platforms!)
-
Be constantly available in the DMs
-
Create brand-new content from scratch
-
Chase trends to stay “relevant”
But here’s what that really leads to: burnout, frustration, and very little return on the time and energy you’re investing.
As busy moms, we simply don’t have the capacity to be content machines. And thankfully—we don’t need to be.
The key is to stop trying to do all the things and instead focus on what actually moves the needle. That starts with simplifying your strategy.
The 2-Hour-a-Week Social Media Strategy (That Actually Works)
You don’t need more content. You need a plan.
Here’s how you can streamline your social media into just two hours a week—without sacrificing visibility or connection.
✅ Hour 1: Create and Schedule
Block out one hour at the start of your week to batch your content. During this time, focus on:
-
Writing 2–3 value-packed posts that educate, entertain, or inspire your audience.
-
Repurposing content from other places—your podcast, emails, blog posts, or past social content.
-
Scheduling your content using a tool like Metricool, Later, Planoly, or Meta Business Suite.
💡 Pro tip: Most of your audience doesn’t see every post. That means it’s totally okay (and smart!) to reuse and rotate your best-performing content.
✅ Hour 2: Engage with Purpose
This is your scroll-free hour. Instead of mindlessly browsing, spend this time engaging intentionally:
-
Respond to DMs and comments
-
Leave thoughtful comments on 5–10 ideal client accounts
-
Engage with collaboration or referral partners
-
Share 1–2 behind-the-scenes updates or Stories (if that feels aligned)
Set a timer, show up with intention, and then get out. No doom scrolling required.
Choose ONE Platform and Master It
One of the biggest mistakes I see is trying to be everywhere—Instagram, Facebook, LinkedIn, Threads, Pinterest… the list goes on.
Here’s my advice: choose one primary platform where your ideal client hangs out and go all in. For many of my clients, that’s Instagram. For others, it might be Facebook or LinkedIn. For me personally? It’s Threads.
Once you’ve built a rhythm and system that works on one platform, you can always expand later. But don’t split your attention too soon—it’ll slow your momentum and burn you out faster.
The Only 4 Types of Content You Need to Rotate
You don’t need to reinvent the wheel every week. Here’s a simple content framework you can rotate through consistently:
1. Educational Content
Teach something your audience needs to know, or bust a common myth they believe. This positions you as an expert and builds trust.
2. Connection Content
Let people in. Share your story, a belief you hold, or a “mom moment” that makes others feel seen. This is where real relationships are built.
3. Social Proof Content
Share wins, testimonials, screenshots, or client success stories. Show people what’s possible when they work with you.
4. Call to Action Content
Remind your audience how they can take the next step—whether that’s joining your list, booking a call, or grabbing your latest freebie or offer.
Stick to these four types, and you’ll always have something valuable to say—no dancing required.
Let’s Recap: The Simplified Strategy in Action
Here’s how your 2-hour-a-week social strategy breaks down:
✅ 1 hour batching & scheduling 2–3 posts
✅ 1 hour intentional engagement
✅ Focus on one platform
✅ Rotate 4 types of content
✅ Reuse and repurpose your best posts
✅ Most importantly: keep it simple and consistent
Final Thoughts: Give Yourself Permission to Simplify
You’re not just a business owner—you’re a mom. And that means your time, energy, and mental space are precious. You don’t need to do everything to grow. You just need to do the right things consistently.
Simplifying your social media doesn’t mean you’re slacking. It means you’re being strategic. You’re protecting your time. And you’re building a business that supports your life—not the other way around.
So take a breath. Step off the hamster wheel. And let this be the reminder you need: you’ve got this—and it doesn’t have to be that complicated.
