Spoiler alert: You don’t have to choose between making memories and making money this summer.

As moms who run businesses, summer can feel like one big juggling act—kids out of school, vacations on the calendar, and way less focused time to get work done. If you’re anything like me, you’ve probably wondered: How am I supposed to keep my business going when I can barely finish a thought without someone asking for a snack?

I get it, and I’ve been there.

But what if I told you there’s a way to keep your business running—even growing—without being glued to your laptop all summer long?

In this episode, I’m pulling back the curtain on my exact summer strategy that keeps my business afloat (and even thriving) when I’m working fewer hours. It’s built on three simple pillars: Prep, Automate, Simplify.

Let’s break it down.

The Reality of Summer as a Mompreneur

Summer brings a completely different energy into our lives. The structure of school days disappears, and suddenly your work blocks are filled with swim lessons, spontaneous outings, and lots (and lots) of snack breaks.

And while traditional business advice tells you to just “batch more” or “go harder,” that advice wasn’t made for moms running businesses in 15-minute pockets of time.

Here’s the truth: Summer doesn’t have to mean pressing pause on your business.
You just need a different strategy—one that’s flexible, sustainable, and built around your real life.

My 3-Part Summer Strategy: Prep, Automate, Simplify

1. Prep: Frontload the Work Before Summer Hits

If there’s one thing I swear by, it’s getting ahead before summer officially kicks off.

For me, that means:

  • Batching podcast episodes for June, July, and even August

  • Pre-writing and scheduling promotional and nurture emails

  • Mapping out what content I’ll repurpose (instead of creating from scratch)

  • Getting low-ticket offers, tripwires, and evergreen sales funnels ready to run

This one-time push in May or early June sets the tone for the entire season. It’s not always easy, but it allows me to breathe and be present later on.

✨ Pro tip: Set aside a couple of “power days” to knock out your batching and prep. Think of it as a gift to your future self.

2. Automate: Let Systems Do the Heavy Lifting

Once the prep is done, it’s time to hand things off to the systems and tools I trust.

Here’s what I automate:

  • Email sequences that nurture new subscribers after they grab a freebie

  • Tripwires and order bumps to bring in passive income on autopilot

  • Client onboarding using Dubsado, so I don’t have to manually send contracts or intake forms

  • Call scheduling with clear availability, built-in buffers, and no back-and-forth

Every step that doesn’t need my input gets automated. This reduces stress and keeps everything running behind the scenes, even when I’m away.

3. Simplify: Less Hustle, More Intention

Summer is not the time for complicated launches or heavy workflows. Instead, I simplify across the board.

  • I press pause on high-energy promos and live events

  • I focus on low-maintenance sales activities (think flash sales, bundles, and evergreen products)

  • I reduce my workweek to 3–4 days—or less—and only take calls on designated days

This is also the time I give myself permission to adjust expectations. Instead of trying to “do it all,” I ask:

  • What’s essential right now?

  • What can wait?

  • What feels light and fun?

I build my entire summer strategy around those answers.

What This Looks Like in Real Time

So what does this look like inside my business?

Here’s a peek:

  • My Moms Make Money podcast is batched and scheduled through July (and I’m working on getting through August)

  • My free audio event, the Sustainable Summer Series, is set up and running on autopilot

  • Scheduled emails are promoting my low-cost offers on ThriveCart while I sip iced coffee on the porch

  • I’ve paused launch projects and am only working with ongoing client management contracts

  • I’ve limited my work hours to three days a week and made sure clients know exactly when I’m available

This isn’t about doing nothing.
It’s about doing less of the stuff that drains me and more of what actually moves the needle—with less effort.

The Mindset Shift That Changed Everything

I’d be lying if I said this approach came naturally.

I used to believe that if I wasn’t working 24/7, my business would fall apart. That if I slowed down, the momentum would stop.

But I’ve learned something powerful:
Sustainability beats hustle. Every time.

When I trust my systems and give myself the space to live, everything feels better.
My ideas are stronger. My marketing feels more aligned. My offers convert better—because I’m not pushing them out of desperation.

Summer isn’t a setback. It’s a season.
And my strategy flexes with it.
